Comfortable is boring to me.
That sentence sounds confident when you read it after the decision. It feels very different while you are making one.
Leaving a stable path was not cinematic. Building an agency was not a clean upward graph. Teaching, writing a book and building products did not arrive one after another with perfect timing. Most of it happened together, with doubt sitting in the same room.
But comfort has never taught me as much as responsibility.
When something is yours, you cannot hide behind the task. You face the client, the user, the team, the money, the mistake and the next decision.
That pressure has changed how I design. I no longer ask only whether the screen works. I ask whether the idea deserves the screen, whether the business can support it and whether the user will care.
I still like comfort. I am human.
I just do not want it to become the reason I stop becoming someone new.
